A memorial is the most personal choice that can be made

General Info

What better way to begin a business. Jim Holcomb developed the passion of genealogy in 1994. One of the best sources of genealogical data is cemeteries. Jim began visiting cemeteries in North Georgia where his ancestors were buried. Before long he found himself transcribing entire cemeteries in North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee. He even made trips to Arkansas and Texas in search of cemetery data. His vast cemetery transcriptions made him a valuable charter member of Hamilton County Genealogical Society. With help from other HCGS members his cemetery transcriptions numbered in the hundreds. The Chattanooga Times Free Press has run three separate articles on his ventures and data. In 2004 Jim found himself in the awards and engraving business as Awards and Trophies by Design. Making trophies, plaques and other memorabilia, he quickly learned the value of memorials. Purchasing both rotary and laser engravers, Jim learned the process of engraving on many types of material including hard surfaces such as tile, stone and even stainless steel. Never forgetting his love of cemeteries, especially the older ones, Jim felt his life would be incomplete without venturing into the monument business. He was employed by a competitor in 2011 but didn't like the art of telemarketing to families of the recently deceased to the tune of 400 calls per day. Jim was accepted to manage one of the largest memorial parks in the Chattanooga area but saw himself being a telemarketer again so he declined. The thought of owning and managing his own monument company seemed to be a win-win situation. So there we are. With the help of his wife, Susan, and other family members, Jim's dream is to offer a quality product and service at lower than competitive prices. He has selected superior products from the finest manufacturers and distributors. There are other local memorial companies. We promise to be attentive to your needs and informative as to the available choices that you have in a quality memorial. We will strive to keep our overhead low and pass savings on to our customers.
