Valley Morning Star, founded in 1909, is a daily community newspaper and joined Freedom Communications in1951. Located in Harlingen, Texas, the newspaper has a daily circulation of more than 32,000 copies and over 36,000 copies on Sunday. It mainly focuses on local coverage and also has various special sections, such as fishing, birding, football and agriculture. Valley Morning Star also focuses on health, several woman concerns and Hispanic culture. The newspaper also focuses on storytelling photography, and various color reproductions to enhance the information for readers. It has also been awarded by the Texas Managing Editors Association of Texas in various fields, including investigative reporting, column writing and team effort.
