      Established in 1898, the Hanover Juvenile Correctional Center offers a range of specialized residential treatment services and programs for males between the ages of 12 and 18. The center is budgeted to accommodate more than 120 juveniles. It administers various sex offender treatment, substance abuse education and anger management programs. The Hanover Juvenile Correctional Center provides a variety of campus activities and intramural sports, including flag football, volleyball, basketball and swimming. It offers academic classes, as well as conducts vocational training sessions for juveniles. The center also provides opportunities for juveniles to earn their General Education Development (GED) certificate. The Hanover Juvenile Correctional Center is operated by the Department of Juvenile Justice, which is a part of the state government of Virginia.
