I just moved to the area from New York and I was looking for a place to board my dog for a week while I got the new house settled. I did tour a few places before this one, and all of them were nice, but the thing that stood out here was how friendly the staff are. The kennels are very clean, and I know this kennel is good because of how long it has been in business. Most importantly, my dog was happy and I could tell he had been well cared for. I will definitely use this kennel again in the future.
We read some reviews of this place and they were all high, I wish I could find out who those reviewers were because after just having picked up my dogs I am concerned for the well being of one of them. Honestly, if I could give zero stars I would. We boarded our two dogs with this company for two weeks while we were on vacation. When we dropped them off we were told they had to be in a small kennel for that weekend because it was busy but they would be moved to a larger one the coming Monday (8/5/13). They were in the exact same small kennel when we picked them up. When we dropped our dogs off we also discussed how they had to be separated when feed because the older dog would push the other aside and eat her food. We were told that this would not be a problem and they would be separated. Upon picking them up it was obvious that they were not separated; the food bowls were just at opposite ends of the kennel. The younger dog lost 1/8 of her body weight (I know this to be exact because we had been to the vet a few days before dropping the dogs at the kennel.) We can see her spine and ribs sticking out and she is obviously weak. Simply put she looks terrible, half starved and neglected.I will not be using this facility again and I cannot recommend it to anyone. When I board my dogs I expect them to be properly cared for, not viewed as simply a means for gaining money by people who do not care enough to notice an animal starving.
I had a family emergency, and the girl working there let me drop my dog off after business hours and even offered to call my vet to verify shot records so I wouldn't have to go pick them up. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because they don't have Sunday pickup, but I guess everyone needs a day off.
I was impressed with Pet's Vacationland when I left my dog there. The place was clean and the staff were very nice. I liked that the dogs could go inside and outside as they pleased because of the indoor outdoor runs. My dog really like one of the girls that works there, which is unusual for him. After boarding with them, I now don't have to worry about my dog being taken care of.
