I am newly landed in Illinois from the Tri-State area. I have locked hair and of course, there you can find salons that cater to "natural hair care". But though that maybe true, I've still relied on myself for the best care of my long locks. Since being here in Gurnee, Illinois, my hair was not as happy as it once was. Could I find a salon that does "my type of hair" the way I liked here? Uh, not so much... But I was determined to find some place to go , so I googled it and found EssenceVIP; read the reviews - mainly good. So I ventured there to get my suffering locks back to a healthy state. Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised to find a woman with "my type of hair" waiting to be serviced; and best of all, the owner, Terez, also had long, beautiful locked hair - Yah Hoo! Had I found my salon after all these years??? Before going in, over a week's period in person and on the phone, Terez spent a great deal of time telling me what she could and would do for my ailing hair. I went in and she and her lovely ladies set to work. They were professional, friendly and took their time to address my hair woes; the salon itself is light, comfortably appointed and relaxing. I felt so very at home, and the best part was in the end, my hair looked and felt glorious. For the first time in my long life I had a truly wonderful salon experience. I left feeling like I was treated like the queen that I am...and it was worth every penny! I will definitely return for further care of my now beautiful hair!

I am new to the area and it was my first visit to the salon. Ms Terez was my stylist and she provided great service. She completed my services within an hour. Everyone in the salon was professional and friendly. I will make this salon my new salon home.

I went into Essence VIP with extremely dry and damaged hair and in 3 weeks I saw a complete turnaround. Terez recommended that I start getting the Crystal Gel treatements to bring my hair back to life, after the first treatment I saw a drastic change. Not only do the treatments work they are affordable. I love this salon the atmosphere is professional and friendly.

Katrina cares about the clients hair and their services being received by her. I can say I am very pleased with Ms. Katrina working on my hair and I will continue to let Katrina be my stylist of choice . The services that I received today were braids and a sew in. My first time being in Essence VIP, I was blown away by the great service the shampooers and the hair stylists was providing to other customers especially Amanda. However, I came to get some braids by Katrina. I never heard of her name being mentioned when I was doing my research and reading numerous of reviews of this place. I was unsure about how my hair was going to turn out but overall my braids came out so so. I just feel like there were less effort put into the designs. I expressed my thoughts to her about the braids. Instead of saying I can redo the design of the braids at the top section of your head, she walked off to assist someone else. Furthermore,throughout me getting my hair braided. I noticed that there were alot of head movements and eye winking and whispering going on from other workers there while I was getting my hair braided and waiting on my ride.In other words, this is very unprofessional. It's clear to me that this hair salon is not known for braids therefore if I do decide to return back in the future. I will get a wash, cut and set from someone else. I just feel that if your hair salon is not known for doing braids inform your customers, so there is no confusions. And for future references I will do my homework on the hairstylist regardless of the name of the Hair salon.

I have been going to Essence VIP since June 2012 and have been very pleased with the service. As soon as i walk in the door i am taken to the back to start my hair- they are very prompt. It is wonderful to find a professional hair salon in the Lake County area that can take care of all my hair needs. Thank you Essence VIP!!

I have been a client at Essence for a few years now and I have always been pleased with the service. My regular stylist is Amanda who is great and I have also had my hair styled by Nancy who is also a great stylist. I would have no problem with any of the stylist here doing my hair including Terez the owner. The other staff Maude, Katrina, and Gina are all friendly and very courteous. I feel like I get special treatment here and I love it!

Today I received a wash, press,trim and color rinse by Nancy. She did an awsome job. She was on time and had a very pleasant and kind attitude. My hair looks and feels great and I will definitely call Nancy again for my next visit.

I have been with Essence for years, and have never ever walked out unhappy. Terez is the only person I let cut my hair, and I always get compliments. The staff is always courteous, responsive and friendly.

Amanda has been my stylist for 13 years and has always remained consistent in her execution of a fabulous hairstyle. She takes pride in not only a great, modern hairstyle but also in hair health; knowing that your style can't be complete without a great foundation. That foundation is healthy, strong tresses! I highly recommend paying a visit!

I have been coming to Evip for years. Where everTerez goes, I follow. My hair was breaking off. I had split ends and let us not forget how dry it WAS! She uses top of the line products and now my hair is fabulous and I owe it all to Terez. I can not end without mentioning Marie. Thank you soooo much for the time and care you have put into my hair and scalp. I will not ask for anyone but you to shampoo my hair. Her attention to detail is unsurpassed! Thank you both!

I love coming to Essence VIP because they always get me looking my best. I feel comfortable and can talk with Mrs. Terez about all things hair. I got many services including, color, highlights , keratin treatment, trim, and blow dry & style. At times i got these all in the same day and it's always a fun but professional environment. I usually make an appiontment in advance and can be out within a few hours. Essence VIP is the only salon I go to and the only one I trust to get me looking my best!

When I started visiting Essence VIP several years ago, my hair was in terrible shape. It was shedding, dull and lifeless. Ms. Terez brought it back to health and gave me a lovely, youthful look.
