      Our office is located in Grinnell, Iowa, in Poweshiek County. Poweshiek Mutual primarily writes homeowners and farm owners insurance in rural areas and smaller communities. We also write fire, wind, and allied lines insurance, including inland marine and crop hail. Our company is reinsured with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company of Grinnell, Iowa, which allows us to attach liability coverage to our policies. We adjust our own claims and do our own field underwriting reviews of the risks that we insure. We are one of the most financially secure mutual insurance companies in the State of Iowa. Our main focus is to continue the FarMutual concept of working together with neighbor helping neighbor. President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge, once remarked – “Insurance is part charity and part business, but all common sense.” At Poweshiek Mutual, we wish to always keep the common sense in our business, and strive to accomplish this as nearly as government and the courts will allow.
