Mt. Airy Elementary School works for the development of problem-solving and critical thinking skills of children. It has been serving the educational needs of students in kindergarten through grade five since 1929. The school s curriculum includes writing, mathematics, science, history and social science. Mt. Airy Elementary School also conducts sessions in technology, music and English. The school employs a staff of a guidance counselor, librarian, physical trainer, psychologist, speech pathologist, reading specialist, teachers and assistants. In addition, its library maintains a collection of computer software, books and videos. The school provides educational assessment planning, career development and counseling services. It features a parent-teacher organization that supports several fundraising events and activities. Located in Gretna, Va., Mt. Airy Elementary School is a part of Pittsylvania County Schools, which maintains elementary, middle and high school campuses.
