Shea Ray, MD, MS, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, returned to serve patients in her hometown and beyond as an orthopedic surgeon at Prisma Health–Upstate and Shriners Children’s Greenville, specializing in treatment of the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow for patients of all ages. Dr. Ray attended Clemson University for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in bioengineering. She earned her medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville before completing her orthopedic surgery residency at Prisma Health–Upstate, where she was elected chief resident. Her fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh and Shriners Children’s Northern California further strengthened her expertise in the field of hand and upper extremity surgery, including the treatment of congenital and pediatric conditions. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, and a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Ray has multiple scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals on the topics of orthopedics and hand surgery. Dr. Ray and her husband, Seth, enjoy doing anything outdoors including cycling, hiking, camping and kayaking. She can also be found watching Clemson football and professional sports.
