- Primary CareOnce the patient is released, the patient is referred back to their primary care provider. The hospitalist will communicate with the patient’s provider and share necessary information about the care given while hospitalized.
- Smoking CessationPulmonary rehab is inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation for patients with lung disease. We treat those who suffer from emphysema, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, or other lung diseases. The program includes a supervised and monitored exercise program and educational information to help the patient learn how to live with the disease, such as breathing techniques and diet. The department also offers smoking cessation for both cardiac and pulmonary rehab.

- Physical TherapyBy the 1990s, DCMH had grown significantly, with the hospital’s revenue reaching over $1 million in 1990. A major outpatient center was completed in 1995, bringing together multiple services such as physical therapy, radiology, and outpatient surgery in one convenient location. Additionally, the hospital added new services, including a full range of imaging and diagnostic capabilities, and began to develop partnerships with other healthcare providers.
- Occupational TherapyHospitalists provide patients with continuity of care, allowing them to see the same physician for much of their hospital stay. Because they work in the Hospital, hospitalists can check on the patient at least once a day and become familiar with the patient’s progress. They can better coordinate care provided by specialty physicians and ancillary departments, such as physical and occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, social services, and nursing case management.
