TL; DR: Scott took advantage of a poor and desperate elementary school teacher by misrepresenting his product, taking advantage of my naivete and ultimately selling me a scooter that can not be used. BEWARE OF THIS MAN, HE WILL BLEED YOU DRY AND LEAVE YOU WITH NOTHING!My vehicle blew headgaskets and after realizing that I couldn't afford a down payment on a car, I decided to buy a scooter and save. I went to every scooter shop around budgeting only $500 to buy one. After going everywhere and looking through Craig's List I remembered Down & Out. I went by but it was closed. There was a number on the door so I called and talked with Scott for at least a half hour. I told him my predicament, what I could afford and he assured me he could help me.I went back to his shop a day or two later and, although the place is PACKED with scooters, he only had a Yahama Zuma working that he could sell. He wanted $800 for it but, on the phone, said he'd do it for $500. Then, when I got there the scooter was suddenly $550. I made a deal that he would let me pay the extra $50 and the cost of a helmet the first of July, this was even put on the receipt. He made promises about how well the scooter runs, how much gas mileage it would get, etc. He made it seem it was the perfect scooter for a complete novice like me. There's some really shady things going on with him. First, he only wanted cash. Fine. Second, although knew I was ready to finish our sale he went off and helped another customer for 30 minutes, leaving me and my friend to wait. We finished the sale and when I looked at the receipt, he had put that the Zuma was a 1989! Of course, I didn't ask ahead of time but he also keep the fact from me. I drove the scooter home. On the way, I filled it up at a gas station and put in the 50/50 oil. The scooter sat for an hour at my place and then I went out to ride it again. I barely made it a mile before it broke down and wouldn't start. I called Scott to ask what was going on, after some verbal troubleshooting he told me I had gotten some "bad gas" and it was going to have to be removed and "good gas" put in. He offered to come pick it up the next day (Saturday) and fix it. As good as his word he came by the next day with his personal truck, picked it up and took it back to his shop.I texted and called all weekend to get an idea of what was wrong and how much it would cost although he made it sound like it was no big deal and he was just going to fix it for me. Finally, Monday afternoon, after sending text after text, leaving message after message I get a text that reads, "Scooter is finished, in order to pick it up you must pay $210 which includes the amount you owe." I was flabbergasted. He never told me how much it would be and he made a deal with me that I could pay off the rest a month later. He even charged me for a tow! He knew my situation and suddenly had no compassion for me. He wanted his money.I had to borrow the money from my parents and, after reading other reviews about him, decided to ask a police officer to escort me. Scott acted like my best friend, even texting me afterward all nice about what I need to do about the scooter (too late). I drove the scooter home and again, within a couple of hours, the scooter wouldn't start. I had five friends come over to troubleshoot it. First it was the spark plug, then it was an electrical relay. Another friend offered to have his company fix it. They did their best getting it started, telling me they think the clutch needs to be rebuilt (great). I got to ride it for 2 days until, driving down a country road, it ran out of gas! I had only gone 30 miles since I had filled it up last! The scooter doesn't get anywhere NEAR the mileage Scott or common sense would dictate. After getting gas in it, changing the spark plug again, the scooter still won't run. As of today, I have put over $800 into a scooter that doesn't work and it's my opinion Scott knew this the entire time.No one should

Absolute crap, doesn't even deserve 1 star!!!! Scott the owner is a skammer and liar. Charged me over $300 to get my scooter running again. Get it home and it won't even turn over with the kick start after he assured me it would. Said the battery was dead so he took it out and kept it. Come to find out he tried to over charge me for a new battery after calling scooternerds. From what I hear he's strung out on speed and has ripped off several people. This man cannot be trusted!!!! Do not give him your money or a chance to frustrate you. Will be notifying the better business bureau as well.

Avoid at all cost

I purchased a '03 Suzuki GSX R-600 from D & O in June for a very reasonable price and thought that I had found a place that could take care of all my motorcycle needs. I was proven quite wrong. I laid the bike down and needed to replace some of the parts. I told the owner, Scott, that I needed the bike to be repaired for a riding seminar in a week. He said "no problem". Two weeks later the bike still wasn't repaired and the part had not even been ordered. When I spoke to Scott regarding it he couldn't even give me an answer on when the bike would be repaired. He argued every point except the fact that he didn't do the work he was suppose to. After 20 minutes of him yelling at me and telling me that he can "buy" me I decided to take my business somewhere else. The owner is an arrogant guy with a "little man complex" who I can't believe is still in business. In 4 visits to the shop I saw 2 other customers having similar problems with the owner having no idea what he was doing and overcharging customers. I will never visit that shop again and if you care about your bike you shouldn't either.

CROOK AND LIAR

Horrible mechanic, Messed up 2 Honda collectors bikes. He will estimate real low, then final bill will be real high. The work is pathetic, I have never seen such a sloppy and unorganized shop in my life. Please STAY AWAY, for your motorcycles safety. He will rob you, and destroy your bike.
