Ravi Vaswani, MD specializes in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. His clinical focus is on the treatment of orthopaedic injuries as well as the treatment of chronic orthopaedic conditions. His goal is to improve function through the least invasive treatments possible, including nonoperative modalities. When nonoperative treatment no longer works, he offers surgical treatment including minimally invasive arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, and ankle. In particular, he has specialized training in hip arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery. Dr. Vaswani trained under world-renowned sports medicine surgeon Dr. Freddie Fu during residency at University of Pittsburgh and then completed an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine & Shoulder Surgery Fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Vaswani believes in excellent patient care for all patients and his commitment to patient advocacy and care led to his selection as Arthroscopy Association of North America s Health Policy Fellow for 2022 2024. He aims to improve clinical care through research and has authored over 40 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and aims to continue his research pursuits at Northwell. Dr. Vaswani was honored with induction into the Clinician Scholar Career Development Program by the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) given his extensive contributions to medical education and furthering orthopaedic research. He also serves as an editor for multiple orthopaedic journals, helping shape the landscape of orthopaedic research. Furthermore, he is a member of multiple national orthopaedic societies, including American Shoulder Elbow Surgeons (ASES), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).Outside of work, he enjoys playing tennis and basketball. As a former athlete, he is able to relate to his patient s injuries and use this to personalize treatment to each patient s unique situation. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He enjoys playing acoustic guitar, travelling to national parks, and skiing.
