Dr. Rokito is the Division Chief of Sports Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Northwell Health. He is the physician leader of the Sports Medicine Executive Committee for Northwell Health. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra Northwell.Dr. Rokito completed his doctorate at Boston University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency at NYU Langone Hospital for Joint Diseases, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Southern California. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also Sports Medicine Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of America (AANA).Dr. Rokito has been in practice for over 20 years and his philosophy of patient care is empathic care with expertise. His patient population ranges from little leaguers to professionals and adolescents to seniors. His clinical interests are acute traumatic, overuse, and degenerative conditions of the shoulder, elbow and knee using nonoperative and state of the art operative treatment, when necessary. Common shoulder conditions treated include, but are not limited to, instability problems, rotator cuff, and arthritis. Common elbow conditions treated are tendinopathies and tendon and ligament ruptures. Common knee conditions treated include meniscus tears, ligament ruptures, articular cartilage injuries and arthritis. He participates in clinical research and his work has led to publications in peer reviewed journals and multiple presentations at regional, national, and international meetings. He is a frequent instructor at AANA meetings and teaches the latest techniques to orthopaedic surgeons. Dr. Rokito has been an associate team orthopaedist for the New York Islanders for the past 10 years, as well as the head team physician for the Long Island Ducks for the past 20 years. He also oversees the Northwell Health Sports Medicine Program which provides coverage and certified athletic trainers to 13 local high schools. In addition, Dr. Rokito was most recently the recipient of the 2019 Achievement in Orthopaedics Award at Northwell Health.

Provided by Doctor.comI am 61 years old and had my new shoulder operation on July 3 2014 I did a lot of reading B4 the operation about length of recovery and the common statement was it takes 1 year to recover even the doctor told me I would not bow hunt or play for 12 months I was bow hunting in 15 weeks and golfing in 17 weeks I had only one rehab session I worked out on my own now I am not saying this will happen for you but I did it! and I always had a strong upper body but I never worked out just they way I was born but this guy is the best I had a ulmer nerve relocation on my other arm 8 years ago by another doctor and it took 18 months to feel better. This Guy is The Best.
