General Info
Jill Maura Rabin, MD, is vice chair of Education & Development, OB-GYN at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center. She is also the co-chief of Ambulatory Care, OB-GYN at Northwell Health, section head of Urogynecology at LIJ Medical Center, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and professor at the Center for Health Innovations and Outcomes Research at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. A practicing OB-GYN and urogynecologist for more than three decades, Dr. Rabin was one of the first female members of the American Urogynecologic Society and helped develop the field of female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Her research team has developed numerous techniques and devices to treat and prevent urinary incontinence and improve pelvic floor health. Dr. Rabin also has a special interest in the health and well-being of women during and after pregnancy. To support women s emotional and psychological health, she partnered with Northwell Health s ambulatory psychiatry team to create videos and other educational material on perinatal and postpartum mood disorders. Because periodontal health impacts pregnancy and postnatal health, Dr. Rabin helped develop a periodontal program for women in pregnancy. She also led a team that developed and patented an improved hospital gown for obstetric and gynecologic patients. An educator as well as researcher, Dr. Rabin helped develop a graduate medical ambulatory curriculum for OB-GYN residents at Northwell. As co-director for the advanced clinical experience in OB-GYN at the Zucker School of Medicine, she helped create an integrated curriculum for medical students. She is a member of the Academy of Medical Educators and of Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. Dr. Rabin has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers and four books, and has provided insights and perspective for network and local television and radio, as well as for articles in print media and online. Dr. Rabin received Northwell s Arnold Fenton Award in Obstetrics and Gynecology and was named Grantee of the Year by the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In recognition of her educational leadership, Dr. Rabin received the Faculty of the Second 100 Weeks Teaching Award from the Zucker School of Medicine and the Master Teacher Award in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the SUNY Downstate Alumni Organization. Dr. Rabin serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and International Urogynecology Journal. Dr. Rabin graduated from the State University of New York Downstate Medical College and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She came to Northwell Health in 1985 as an attending physician, where she completed a fellowship in urogynecology.
