In the 1950 s, the law firm s founding partner , Tom Ryan began practicing law in Detroit, Michigan. Several years later, Mr. Ryan relocated his practice to Grand Rapids. Although Mr. Ryan has now passed on, Michael Podein and Kellie Postema have carried on the firm s tradition of distinction in the practice of law. Michael Podein graduated with honors from Michigan State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He has spoken on numerous occasions for the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association and Michigan State University; appeared on the Ask the Lawyer program; given speeches to unions on workers comp and related issues; led The People s Law School classes for citizens who wanted to learn more about law and is the Former Chairman of the Grand Rapids Bar Association s Workers Compensation Section. He was named Super Lawyer in the area of worker s compensation in 2007 and 2008. Mike has 29 years of experience in handling primarily worker s compensation and personal injury cases. Kellie Postema graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor s of Science degree and Thomas M. Cooley Law School with honors. She is a member of the Social Security Section of the Michigan Bar Association, Grand Rapids Bar Association, American Bar Association, as well as the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives.
