Family Outreach Center, founded in 1979, is a private and nonprofit agency. The agency offers social programs for the underserved and disenfranchised people. It provides counseling and support services to children, youth, adults, and families in the areas of mental health, family intervention, prevention and education, and substance abuse assessment and treatment. Its outreach counseling program, includes individual therapy, family therapy, psychiatric evaluation and treatment, education classes, referral to self-help groups and supportive services. The organization offers various education programs, including confident parenting, family basics and juvenile court parent workshop. It gets funds from Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Network of West Michigan, Kent County Family Independence Agency and the Heart of West Michigan United Way. Family Outreach Center is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich.
