When I decided to put a pool in at our new house, I went out for 3 bids from Baton Rouge area pool companies. Brian Keith was the lowest of the 3 bids and they quoted a completion date of approximately 3 months. The old saying, you get what you pay for…is 100% true here. Not only did Brian Keith take 7+ months to build my pool (technically, they never did complete the job 100% as I still have a fitting half way in the wall and I never did get the “pool school” where they show me how everything works), but they were extremely difficult to work with. Every step of the way, they wanted monies up front and if I did not agree to giving them more money…even though they didn’t complete the part of the job that I paid for already…they threatened me with liens on my house stating that I was in breach of contract (which was not true at all). On Brian Keith’s website it says that Brian personally oversees every pool construction. Well, in the 7+ months that it took, Brian was at my house twice. That’s it…two times. For my job, his brother handled everything and that turned out to be a problem as there were several mistakes made during the construction of my pool which his brother flat out denies happening (design changes that we made that he forgot about, mis-quotes on materials only to have them come back and ask me for more money, forgotten steps in pool, wrong steps outside of pool, poor design with the lighting, forgotten sleeves underneath the concrete for irrigation which costs me a lot more money after the fact, threats of liens, damage to my existing slab which his brother said his subs did not do…but I know with 100% certainty that they did, zero manuals for any of the equipment installed and zero answers for some of the charges I was hit with ($350 for PVC fittings to connect a pool line???). When I tried to explain all of the issues that I was having with his brother to Brian Keith Young, he basically told me that if I did not have a signed change order…it didn’t happen. Well, if that was the case, I overpaid him by several thousand dollars as we didn’t have signed changed orders for several of the changes we made. Only when it was going to cost Brian Keith Pools money…was this now a requirement. I could go on and on as I have a laundry list of issues and reasons that I would advise not to use Brian Keith Pools for your project. I have met others that have experienced similar results with BKP as well. In fact, I met one customer that works at a local pool supply store and it took BKP 8 months to complete her pool. I would think BKP would want to make sure they did her pool right (but I would be wrong). Bottom line is do not believe the sales talk. Go with a larger, more established pool company and not the guy who will save you a few dollars because in the end…he may not…and he will be several months late.

Brian Keith Pools was the cheapest of the 3 bids I received and I now know why. They were extremely difficult to work with. They have no idea what customer service means regardless of what his website says. Brian says he oversees every job, well he was at my house twice in the 7-1/2 months it took to "complete" my pool/spa. Missed steps. Poor design. Very demanding and condenscending. Misquoted prices. Failed to claim responsibility for damage to my property. If you are considering Brian Keith Pools for your next pool/spa....RUN!!! Don't buy the sales pitch. Go with the larger, more respectable pool contractors in the Baton Rouge area. Trust me...I learned the hard way.
