Wonderful nursery! Knowledgeable owners and staff are always ready to give helpful advice specific to our coastal plant needs. Great selection. Often, Blake's carries stock that is not available at other nurseries, and certainly not available at the "big box" stores. For example, I was looking for a bullet-proof shrub for my coastal garden that overlooks the ocean and thus gets severe wind. Blakes suggested Eleagnus (Silver Berry). To my surprise and delight, the five shrubs I planted in the fall over-wintered beautifully and are thriving. I've never seen this shrub for sale here before -- went back to Blakes this spring and bought more.

Blake's Coastal Nursery is such a sweet spot for plant lovers! I used to work for the National Arboretum, live in Corvallis near Garland Nursery, and I absolutely adore Blake's! The plants are always the highest quality, reasonably priced. There is a gentle, well ordered vibe about the place that allows you to immerse yourself in the possibility of your garden while moving through the plants at your own pace. I love that I will find something unusual each visit. (This time it was a Harry Lauder's walking stick with burgundy red foliage.)They have a thoughtful selection of plants suitable for coastal gardens. I appreciate being able to purchase starter plants like rosa rugosa bareroot and shore pine in one gallon pots for my beach cottage! Easy to establish, lovely to enjoy for many years to come! Wonderful selection of perennials in summer! Blake's Nursery is definitely one of the best places to visit on the Oregon Coast! Also recommend lunch across the street at Side Door Cafe'

Blake specializes in plants that will flourish in the moist coastal environment, from annuals, to ground covers, to flowering shrubs, to fruit trees. The atmosphere is gentle and personal. It is always a pleasure to browse the merchandise in such a lovely setting, to have assistance in loading up purchases. They also provide services. I have had them plant trees and move established shrubs for me. Very nice.
