General Info: In 2006, Refac Optical Group completed its acquisitions of U.S. Vision and OptiCare Health Systems. As a result of these acquisitions, Refac has become a leader in the retail optical industry and one of the largest retail optical chains in the United States. It operates at nearly 550 locations in 47 states and Canada, consisting of more than 500 licensed departments, nearly 10 freestanding stores, more than 15 eye health centers and professional optometric practices, two surgery centers, one of which is a laser correction center, and two manufacturing laboratories. Of the licensed departments, more than 350 are located at J.C. Penney stores, nearly 70 at Sears and more than 50 in regional department stores. These licensed departments are full-service retail vision care stores that offer a selection of designer brands and private label prescription eyewear, contact lenses, sunglasses, ready-made readers and accessories. Refac Optical Group is located in Fort Lee, N.J.
