I was recently in Glendale for a business meeting. The service and the food at Kabuki were both excellent and enjoyable. The sushi was fresh and the restaurant was very accommodating for my 3 year old nephew. We asked to speak to a manager to compliment the service of our waitress. After our talk and as a friendly gesture, the manager sent a free scoop of ice cream for my nephew.
I will like to recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.
I have been two Kabuki's twice...
1st time when they barely opened we waited over 10 minutes to be recognized and seated...Once we were seated, we waited another 10-20 minutes to be served...
The second time we were with a group of friends...Same deal happened...Finally a friend upset with the service complained...No manager came...you're better off going to Ahso or ishibans
RavenousRanter, it sounds like your review is for the Kabuki Sushi and Grill off of 83rd and Thunderbird, they are not affiliated with Kabuki Japanese Restaurant in Westgate or the Tempe Market Place. Kabuki Japanese Restaurant is a great place to dine, how can you beat 3$ sushi and rolls on monday and wednesday nights?! or Happy hour from 3-6 monday through friday!
I have been to this place about 20 or 25 times this year... Its a real good atmosphere..the food is great but you really need to try the sushi... its great.. its a sushi place i wouldn't understand why you would go and not try it... The California roll is great and also the Gold Rush is great... Never had a problem with the place, but you do have to understand it gets busy. Great waiters and waitresses, really eager to help. I would compare the Sushi to Ah-So. I have had sushi at many places here in AZ and this is by far my favorite...
I went there with my Daughter who loves Sushi and this was our first time there , however the experience with the staff was sub standard. The staff were not very informative on what each menu item is or had time to make you fell like they were there to make your evening enjoyable *presentation* would be what they strive for, we felt rushed and were ill advised how to prepare our choices they brought out one concoction after another and dropped it on the table then left leaving us to our own culinary vices, our experience went from ok to worse I had budgeted to spend no more than $30-$40 and our dinners stated it came with soup and salad however when asked what the house soup was he rattled off some name and while he was standing there we opted for another seemed harmless type of soup he neglected to say that was not part of the options after everything was said and done my bill was near $70.00 apparently the soups were $13.00 a pop when I mentioned to the manager of my experience he said he would not remove the soups but would offer a 10% discount... not off the bill but off 1 of the soups so my bill was $68.00 so my recomendation for your visit if you choose no exactly what you are getting and enjoy the atmosphere because the food was right there with Panda Express and the soup was like chewing on rubber ...
Went to celebrate some graduations with friends and had a ball. Atmosphere was great and so was the food. We'll be back ...
If you have ever had real Chinese food instead of the stir-fry substitute, or the real Mexican instead of the cheese and beef fried items we call Mexican food here in the US, then you would understand going to a place that was like watered-down culture that was trying to please the American crowd.
The sushi rolls literally had no flavor, the salad was normal ranch-topped salad. The decor was good and atmosphere snazzy, fitting a good sushi experience, but it failed to produce. Most waiters and waitresses were kids. I saw no supervisors or managers. Instead of serving us regularly they chatted in groups in the corners. It took us an hour and half to get through a small meal with only 3 items for 2 people. Miso soup was cold when it came out and food was cooler than should have been as well. Had probably been waiting to be brought out a while. The pricing was poor for the type of service given.
I suggest going down the way to Heidi's sandwiches or Sushi Yuki across the road next to Sprouts shopping center if you're intent on going to this area.
We went over the weekend (Saturday night) to celebrate a friends birthday. My husband and I both had ice water spill down our backs- I know accidents happen but the way it was handled was terrible, I was soaking wet from my back all the way down to my pants and it took them for ever to get me napkins to dry down- They sent YOGURTS to our table and said they were going to give us 15% disc. The manager would not come out to talk to us and they did not cover our bill. They did replace my husbands plate which was covered in water. Thanks for taking the time to read this....
