- Medical Weight LossAs a courtesy to our patients, Glen Rose Medical Center provides Nutritional Counseling through our Registered Dietitian who holds a master’s degree in Food and Nutrition. If you are a patient in our hospital, your doctor may order a consult on your diet. We recognize nutrition and exercise as important components of a healthy lifestyle and as playing important roles in the prevention and management of chronic diesease. Nutrition consults may be ordered for weight loss, weight gain, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, or high blood pressure to name a few. Besides reviewing your medical chart and taking a diet history, our dietitian will work with you todiscover your own goals. The plan comes next. You’ll leave with attainable goals and the actions needed to achieve them.

- Primary CareWe are happy to announce our Hospitalist Program that will launch this week. With a hospitalist on staff, we will be able to provide a higher level of care to patients that might have previously been transferred to the metroplex. The hospitalist will work with your primary care provider to ensure you have the same personal experience that makes being a patient at GRMC special.
- Family Practice
- Emergency CareIf you need emergency care, GRMC is the place to go. We have a top-notch facility that has access to blood banks, labs, x-ray, and CT 24 hours a day. The ED is staffed with a physician and nursing staff 24 hours a day.
- ElectrocardiogramGRMC’s broad-based Cardio/Pulmonary department conducts a full scope of heart and respiratory diagnostics in one convenient suite. If your physician in our medical complex orders an EKG or a pulmonary function study, no need to make a second trip – just make the corner! Previously available only by travel outside the area, critical tests such as Echocardiograms (EKG) and Electroencephalograms (EEG ) are now provided right here close to home — as well as a “take home test,” the Holter Monitor. This lightweight, non-invasive piece of equipment is a portable Electrocardiogram that will monitor your heart and actually record its every move on cassette for 24 hours while you go about your normal activities.
- ImmunizationsData continues to suggest that immunity from surviving the disease is more effective than vaccination in the short term. Unfortunately, there is no effective way of proving how long that immunity will last. Many patients have no detectable antibodies as soon as 4-5 months after infection. At a year out from infection, as few as 15% of patients have detectable antibody levels. Disease survivors can still get vaccinated, and in fact, it is recommended. Patients who have had the disease, and subsequently get vaccinated, have the strongest immunity, according to the most current data that I have seen.
- GynecologyThe addition of the robot will allow more surgeries in the areas of gynecology, urology and larger abdominal surgeries that have not been generally performed at GRMC. The robot allows doctors to be more precise in their movements, reducing the recovery time for patients.
- ObstetricsThe Urogynecology specialists have experience treating the female urinary and reproductive tract. In addition to four years of general obstetrics and gynecology training, they have three years of training in women’s pelvic health and pelvic reconstructive surgery.
- Internal MedicineWe are excited to welcome Dr. Julia Hutchinson back to Glen Rose Medical Center. Dr. Hutchinson was an Internal Medicine with our team from 2007-2016. Since then, she has been in San Angelo, Texas working as a hospitalist and caring for patients in an inpatient and ICU setting. She is excited about coming home and heading up our hospitalist program at Glen Rose Medical Center.

- RadiologyThe Radiology Department at Glen Rose Medical Center strives to provide exceptional care to all patients in the most expedient and professional manner possible. Radiology is an important tool utilized by physicians in diagnosing and developing treatment options for their patients. Several different modalities are used to acquire images of the body providing referring physicians and our board certified radiologists the information necessary to diagnose and treat patients. We provide a wide range of imaging services.

- MammographyMichael Honea, CEO of Glen Rose Medical Center realized an opportunity to improve our radiology department by delineating a portion of the grant funds to upgrade our current CT Scanner to a 64 Slice. A 64-Slice CT imaging scanner allows for the convenient and non – invasive diagnosis and screening of coronary disease (heart blockages). By utilizing a portion of the grant for the CT, we were able to allocate funds to upgrade our current 2D mammography machine to the most current technology 3D mammography machine. A 3D mammogram can detect up to 40 percent more cancers than a 2D mammography machine.

- General SurgeryGeneral surgeons perform consultation and surgery on medical conditions involving the breast, endocrine system, gastrointestinal tract, colon, liver, pancreas and rectum. Operative surgery involves incision into the skin or other organs, inspection or removal of diseased tissue or organs, relief of obstruction, replacement of structures to their normal position, redirection of body channels, transplant of tissues or whole organs and implantation of mechanical or electronic devices.
- OrthopedicsOrthopedists specialize in problems affecting bones, joints or the related muscles, tendons and ligaments. Orthopedists set broken bones, treat joint conditions such as dislocated or slipped disks, arthritis and back problems, bone tumors and skeletal birth defects. They may also surgically repair or replace hip, knee and finger joints. Recovery from almost any orthopedic problem requires time. It often takes considerable time to heal a fractured bone or to recover from a back injury. Many serious diseases and disorders treated by orthopedists require rehabilitation, counseling, and treatment.
