- Dental ExaminationWhen most people visit their dentist, they expect the exam to uncover issues relating exclusively to your mouth, teeth and gums. Studies have now shown, however, that a dental exam can reveal much more about your overall health than you may have anticipated. Your teeth and oral tissues may hold clues about your risk for heart disease, cancer, arthritis, reproductive issues and much more. Your mouth is a window into your overall health—and we believe dentistry should play an integral role in screening, and/or preventing health problems from occurring. That’s the attention to Total Health Dentistry, or Whole-Body Dentistry, our practice focuses on to make sure you're receiving the best overall care possible.
- X-rays
- Oral Cancer ScreeningFollowing your consultation with Dr. Sami, you will be escorted to your treatment room to undergo a comprehensive oral health evaluation that includes a thorough clinical exam, an oral cancer screening and a Periodontal (gum) examination. We will also use the latest diagnostic technology, including a full set of digital x-rays, and if necessary a 3D Cone Beam scan of your teeth and jawbones to help us formulate an accurate diagnosis and precise treatment plan for you. Dr. Sami will go over all your findings in detail and will utilize intra-oral video screening technology to capture high resolution video and still imagery of your mouth in real time so you are able to better visualize and understand conditions and recommendations made. This allows us to have a more interactive discussion with you regarding your oral healthcare conditions and help enable you to better understand diagnoses, recommended options and make informed treatment decisions.
- Teeth CleaningYou should go to the dentist every six months for dental cleanings and comprehensive oral evaluations. In some cases, as with gum disease, you may need to see your dentist more often to maintain your oral health.
- FillingsAmalgams, or “silver fillings,” can present a number of complications over the lifespan of the tooth in which it is placed. Aside from being unattractive, these silver fillings can weaken the surrounding tooth structure over time. Silver fillings expand and contract in response to temperature variations in our mouths. Because the physical properties of these silver fillings are vastly different than our teeth, this expansion and contraction almost always leads to cracks in the amalgam fillings themselves and can even effect the surrounding tooth structure.
- VeneersVeneers are tiny, thin, shells of porcelain that cover the front of a tooth and conceal chips, cracks, misalignment, and discoloration. They are indistinguishable from natural teeth, since they are made of multilayered translucent porcelain and custom-designed for each individual patient.
- CrownsTraditionally in the past, or in dental offices that do not utilize Cerec or CAD/CAM technology, patients who required laboratory fabricated dental restorations such as crowns, inlays or onlays, endured gooey impressions during their first visit, followed by uncomfortable temporary or provisional plastic crowns that they’d wear for weeks till the permanent restoration was completed. Many patients found these temporary crowns became loose or fell out.
- BridgesDoes not involve alteration of adjacent teeth: As is the case with a fixed bridge, when a tooth is missing, the adjacent teeth on either side of the missing tooth have to be ground down in order to have crowns placed over them and a 3-unit bridge fabricated to replace the missing tooth. If the surrounding teeth are healthy, then you are essentially sacrificing these teeth unnecessarily and removing a considerable amount of healthy tooth structure in the process. Bridges also set up the possibility for more complex treatment in the future since the teeth underneath the bridge may require root canals, can develop cavities in areas that are very difficult to access underneath the crowns (remember, the bridge is cannot so flossing is not easily accomplished) and loss of these teeth can also result for a myriad of other reasons which would negate the bridge entirely requiring further replacement. With implants, you can avoid all of this and keep your remaining teeth healthy and unaltered.

- Restorative DentistryGold Coast Smiles founder Andrew Sami D.D.S, has established himself as a clinical leader in cosmetic, implant & restorative dentistry techniques, a level of expertise he brings to his Glen Cove office in Long Island, New York.
- Root Canal TreatmentOften times we are able to avoid root canal treatments, extraction of teeth or other surgical procedures, or more involved general dental procedures such as fixed bridges. Most importantly, we are able to keep your teeth in the best possible condition to continue doing all the everyday things we enjoy like smiling and eating all your favorite foods without restriction.
- Deep CleaningSpecifically, in regards to new patient cleanings, it is our office policy to not schedule cleanings on new patient exams. The goal of the new patient exam is to familiarize ourselves with your oral health needs and prescribe the proper treatment for both your teeth and your gums. This includes the TYPE of cleaning you receive. Depending on the condition of your gums you may require a routine cleaning, a more thorough "deep cleaning" or you may even require more extensive gum therapy with a specialist. We cannot find this out nor can we schedule the appropriate time we would need for the prescribed treatment without a thorough exam first.
- DenturesThe top portion of the implant can be a single tooth, a part of a bridge helping to replace multiple missing teeth or a component specifically designed to anchor into your denture allowing for more stability and an improved fit.
- Dental ImplantsImplants have quickly become the gold standard for tooth replacement due to their versatility, high level of predictability and long term success rates.

- Tooth ExtractionsIf you are healthy enough to undergo a tooth extraction, you are likely a suitable candidate for dental implants. Almost anyone in general good health who is missing either a single tooth, multiple teeth or even all their teeth are candidates for dental implants. Setting up a consultation with Dr. Andrew Sami is the next step in determining if dental implant treatment is right for you.
- Bone GraftingAccurately interpret the volume and depth of jaw bone present in an effort to decide if sufficient jawbone is present or additional bone grafting procedures will be required or beneficial for you prior to the placement of the implant, including Sinus implications
- OrthodonticsProvide instant orthodontics by correcting minor crowding and spacing discrepancies. Small gaps are instantly closed and crooked teeth are quickly corrected.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsWith Invisalign, a set of clear trays are custom fabricated to fit over your teeth and gradually move them to their proper position. Each tray is worn for two weeks before switching to the next tray until your prescribed treatment is completed. Minor to moderate crowding is typically corrected with Invisalign in a matter of months. Because Invisalign does not use metal, brackets or wires, casual observers are unlikely to even notice you are wearing the trays. With Invisalign, we can not only provide you with a better smile, but a healthier one too.
- BracesI’ve had braces in the past but I’m noticing my teeth are shifting again. Should I straighten them out again? I’m not prepared to go through metal braces for a 2nd time. What other options do I have?
- Teeth WhiteningThere is an overwhelming amount of whitening products available for purchase. The question is, do they actually work? The short answer is, yes, but only to a small degree. Some advertised whitening products such as toothpastes, don’t contain any whitening products at all. Instead, abrasive particles are placed to help scrub off the external stain on our teeth. In the case of strips or other whitening gels, they do contain formulas that whiten teeth from the inside out. However, these products are considerably less concentrated than ones used in a dental office. The take home message is, whether these over the counter products actually contain whitening formulas or not, you can only expect to achieve a very minimal result from them.
- Cosmetic Dentistry, Bayville, and beyond. Why do they choose our practice for general and cosmetic dentistry? It could be our state-of-the-art equipment and advanced dental techniques, but what we hear most often from patients is that they appreciate the compassionate care they receive from the moment they walk through our doors.
