Providing Exceptional Service for Individuals and Small Business Owners

General Info
In December, 2004, after working for several finance and accounting firms as a tax professional, I established Gross Tax Service, LLC in Germantown as a sole practitioner. Over the past 10 years I have built a medium sized tax practice that now employs four staff members during the tax season. My goal is to establish relationships with individuals and small business owners, and to provide professional and personalized service, in a private office setting. Preparing your taxes using boxed software or over the internet may suffice for “simple” situations, but taxes are anything but simple and the future of tax preparation promises to become even more complex as Congress and our President attempt to “simplify the tax code.” For example, The Affordable Care Act has made numerous changes to the tax code over a number of years. It is difficult for professionals to keep up with the many changes each year, much less the average taxpayer. When life changes bring challenging tax situations your way, it is best to have a professional you can rely on for tax advice and tax planning, one who has earned your trust and respect. An area most misunderstood among the public is the various professional designations having to do with tax preparation, and what they mean. As an Enrolled Agent (EA), I am a Federally Authorized Tax Practitioner. (Please read more about the EA designation further down on this page.) As an EA I am required by the IRS to complete 72 hours of continuing education in taxation every three years. As a member of the National Society for Enrolled Agents (NAEA), my continuing education requirements are expanded to 30 hours per year. As a believer in lifetime learning, I easily surpass the credit requirements of the IRS and the NAEA. I have also earned the designation of Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA)® and am bound by a Code of Ethics as well as continuing education requirements in taxation, technology, end ethics, through the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT). ACAT is an independent accrediting and monitoring organization affiliated with the National Society of Accountants (NSA). ACAT accredits professionals in independent practice who have demonstrated measurable knowledge of the principles, practices, and ethical standards of accounting, taxation, information technology, and related financial services. ATA® is a premier national tax credential for practitioners who handle sophisticated tax planning issues.
