Founded in 1903, William A. Wirt High School serves more than 800 students in grades 9 through 12. The school s facilities include an auditorium, pool, library and cafeteria. It offers guidance counseling services and special education classes. William A. Wirt High School provides academic programs in a variety of subjects, such as English, mathematics, social studies and science. The school also offers instructional services in fine arts, art, technological communications, drafting, and business and physical education. It maintains a music band and choir group. William A. Wirt High School s athletic activities include golf, tennis, softball, basketball, cross-country, swimming, wrestling, volleyball, baseball, and track and field. The school is administered by Gary Community School Corporation, which governs elementary, middle and high schools.
