Thea Bowman Leadership Academy has been providing academic programs to students since 2003. It provides an educational curriculum that includes various subjects, such as reading, writing, mathematical computation, computer literacy, critical thinking and physical education. The academy provides core subjects and classes in language arts, math, science, social science, physical development and health, fine arts and foreign languages. It organizes various special events and activities that include the Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day celebrations. The academy also has several clubs and organizations, such as a student council, parent-teacher association and honor society. It is located in Gary, Ind., and is operated by American Quality Schools. The organization has partnerships with the Ball State University and Drexel Foundation of Gary.
