Wow...I have never dealt with staff that were this rude. It has really blown my mind. These people do not care about the patients AT ALL. I have given them many chances, now we just needed a refill to be called in and they were ignoring the request from the pharmacy and when i called, they said they don't take refill requests from patients, that my pharmacy has to call. So after this went back and forth for two days, i called and asked what gives??? and they said i would have to pay $10 for the prescription to be called to the pharmacy and would that be Visa or Mastercard!! They refused to call it in until i paid them this fee...even though it has been my prescription for years and I was just in their office two weeks ago with a routine check up. So, out of desparation, i paid the fee and they still havent called it in and have left for the day. Wow...and to top it off, everytime i have ever spoken to the office staff, i have been talked down to and treated rudely. I would never ever reccomend this Dr. due to the poor customer service and i now see that many others have had this negative experience there, as well.

I can heartily recommend Karen Roane as a doctor. I have gone to her for the past 16 years and have no complaints about her care. She has always been warm, friendly and compassionate. She does take the time to make you feel at ease and I appreciate all the service she has given me. Karen Roane stands head and shoulders above most doctors I've known.
Still, I must complain about the way her office operates. Not once, but twice, I have gone for my appointment to be told that they no longer accept my insurance. They told me they thought I liked them enough that I would pay out of pocket. Last week, I was called four times (automatic) to remind me of my appointment but at no time did anyone check to see that my insurance was no longer accepted. I was not notified during the year that my plan had been dropped either.
Now, as much I hate to do it, I must find another doctor.
I have insurance and TRICARE, but her office doesn't accept either one.
So to end this, I love this doctor and her nurse, Vi,but the customer service from her office is lousy.

I was referred to Dr. Roane approximately 1 year ago. An issue was noted during my annual assessment. Since its occurrence, Dr. Roane and her nursing staff have been vigilant about making sure the issue is resolved and that I'm informed. She is wisely aggressive in monitoring and ordering follow up test in an effort to prevent or attack any underlying problems. In addition, the office staff has been professionally pleasant.

I have been a patient of Dr. Karen Roane for at least 16 years and give her the higest rating possible. She is kind, caring, listens to concerns without a ""rush you out"" demeanor and is genuine. She spends time with her patients and this in turn can lead to a little longer wait time but the service she provides is worth it.
She is a one woman show with two offices so those who see her should be understanding that they expect the same quality service others receive and may have to be there a little longer!
People need to see for themselves what quality service she provides and make their own judgement. I highly recommend her to any woman.
The office staff has their days, just like most of us do, but that has no bearing on Dr. Roane's personal care and service to her patients!

If I could give minus stars,I WOULD!!!! I went in July for an anual pap. I had gone three years without insurance, so three years without seeing a doctor or more. This was a visit that should have been free through my new found insurance. In an obvious ploy to pad for more money and more trips for me, I was sent for an ultrasound for a problem I had four years ago, that had not caused me any problems from that time and was not at present. My bill was coded wrong and so, it was not just presented to the insurance company as an anual. I have called, written and gone by the Garner office three times, which was locked tight at different times and on different days. Now I have over a thousand dollars of charges for a free visit and am being ignored by Dr Roane. They keep putting the blame back on the insurance company, who sent me something showing me how the office coded the visit. If you don't want to have this happen, only go if you have LOTS of cash in your pocket to pay with!!!

Being a great doctor goes a long way. When it comes to gynecologists, you want someone who will put you at ease and has good bedside manner. Dr. Roane is by far that doctor. She has a wonderful demeanor and she made me completely comfortable.
Unfortunately, to get to Dr. Roane you need to fight your way through her office. Every time I have visited I have had wait times of 30-45 minutes with one nightmarish wait of 90 minutes. Her staff is incredibly rude and doesn't seem to know how to do their jobs. Her nurse is curt and abrupt. At one visit I had to wait 10 minutes to check in while the front desk staff finished filling out something. When I discovered all that checking in entailed was giving my name, I was understandably displeased.
I really do like Dr. Roane but I don't think I will be going back. I don't have full afternoons to waste waiting to have the ""honor"" of seeing her.

I'm 31 yrs old and have been seeing a gyn every yr (sometimes 6mos) since I was 15 yrs old. Dr. Roane is the sixth GYN I've seen and the best yet! She was super friendly, knowledgable and I didn't feel like she was only there for the money. I would recommend her to anyone and even if I move, will probably come back to her!

I thought Dr. Roane was a nice enough doctor but I think that he roffice management skills are very sub par. I went to see Dr. Roane a couple of YEARS ago and received a few services. I just recently received the bill for these services. I was under the impression that my insurance covered the cost of the procedures.
I reveived a $300 dollar bill for services rendered in 2009!!!!! When I called to inquire as to why I was just now receiving my bill I was informed that ""they got behind with there invoice billing."" I understand being behind, but over 2 years behind is unacceptable. I was also chanrged for services that I never asked for in the first place.
The billing receptionist proceeded to tell me that 6 invoices had been sent to the same address previously. I never received 1 invoice. I don't think it is very professional to expect your patients to pay a bill that is hundreds of dollars 2 years after the fact. I won't be going back.

Extremely rude staff! Even difficult to work with when just scheduling an appointment. Do. Roane rushes through the appointment and doesn't give you time to ask questions or talk about any concerns. There are many great OB-GYN practices in the area. PLEASE do not go to this one. I never write bad reviews, even when I have an awful experience. However, this one is much needed!

Dr. Roane was my first OB-GYN, and I found her polite and friendly during my exams. About a year after I started going to her for my annual exams, I began having heavy periods. I would mention this to her, and her solution was to change my birth control medication. I would continue to have heavy periods that got progressively worse, and every time I saw Dr. Roane, she would either prescribe a new birth control medication or recommend I do a 3-month continuous therapy. Never during all this time did she perform any tests to see if there was something wrong that would cause these immensely heavy periods.
Stupidly, I kept going back to her time after time for 5 years, expressing my concerns over my ever-worsening cycle. It got to the point that I would have to miss work every month, and I was always on the point of passing out from the extreme blood loss. My significant other finally put his foot down and encouraged me to get a 2nd opinion. My new doctor listened to my concerns, immediately ordered tests, and found that I had a sizable fibroid tumor that was causing these problems. Had they found it sooner, I could have had it removed without surgery, but unfortunately, I had waited too long to seek a 2nd opinion. My only option was to have a laproscopic procedure.
And all this could have been avoided if she would have believed me and performed appropriate tests... I gave her 5 years to figure it out. Changing birth control isn't always the answer.

I've been a patient of Dr. Roane's for about 15 yrs now. She delivered my youngest, who happened to be a 'problem' pregnancy with serious illness- on my part- involved. She was very caring and attentive to my worries - and my health, of course - and was also very accommodating when my two young children (then aged 6 and 4) had to accompany me to appointments. She has even kept- for all these years- a picture drawn for her by my daughter at that time.
Over the years, I've had various- mostly minor- issues, and Dr. Roane has never changed as far as her true commitment and caring for her patients. She ALWAYS takes time to actually listen, and is NOT one of those doctors who think they are a god who knows all. Though she stays current on new techniques and such, she has no problem admitting when she is uncertain about something, and will find the info or refer me to another doctor.
Though she is very careful and concerned about patients' privacy, she is also very welcoming to family or friends that a patient wants included or present.
I could go on and on about how very pleased I have always been by Dr Roane and her always-friendly staff.
I simply cannot say enough about how highly I would recommend her to anyone. I wouldn't want my daughter seeing any other gyn.
*Every once in a while, because babies don't care about schedules, wait times can be a bit long. It isn't often, and if they realize the schedule will be upset by something unforeseen, they will try to call and offer a different appointment time.

Karen Roane is a fantastic doctor, and is very professional. Each time I have been for a visit I am in and out within 15 min. There are two offices one in Raleigh and one in Garner which is very convenient. Both offices are very well kept and clean which to me is a plus.

The first visit I had with Dr. Roane was great. She was very friendly, as is her staff. I had to have a procedure done and then had an office visit with her for results. I found her to be curt and abrupt. I have had to put my life on hold one day waiting for a staff member to return my call. Very frustrating and inconsiderate on their part.
I thought I had found a wonderful GYN, but I am now rethinking this cholice.

I saw Dr. Roane for the first time today in her Brier Creek office. The office and nursing staff members were all great, and Dr. Roane herself was terrific. Everyone was very friendly and down to earth, and they all obviously care alot about their patients. We chatted through the whole examination and it was over in what felt like 30 seconds. She explained every procedure as she performed it, and was both quick and thorough. Even as a new patient having to fill out paperwork, I was in and out of her office within an hour, and probably only spent 5 minutes in the gown (which I greatly appreciated). All in all, I had a painless and unexpectedly comfortable visit, and I don't think I'll be switching doctors again anytime soon!

I didn't have a good experience at Dr. Roane's Garner office today, so I ended up walking out without even seeing the doctor. First of all, this morning I had called to verify my appt time and get directions. The first person I talked to couldn't help me, so I was transferred to someone else who was very nasty to me. I arrived 45 minutes early because I wasn't quite sure where I was going, and presented my insurance card to the receptionist. I was then told I'd have to pay 20% of the bill up front at the end of the visit. That's not how my insurance works, so I tried to explain to them how my insurance works. The receptionist still insisted I pay 20% up front, so I asked if she would please call and verify benefits with my insurance company. She didn't want to, so I kept insisting what she was telling me is wrong. She then went to talk to someone else (not sure who) and then she came back and said firmly that I would have to pay 20% up front. Since this isn't the way my insurance works and I was facing a possible hefty bill, I had no other choice but to leave without seeing the doctor. On my way home I called insurance and they said I shouldn't have to pay anything, that I get a yearly women's wellness visit that is 100% covered. So I called Dr. Roane's office back to tell them this and plead with them to verify insurance so that I could come back or reschedule my appt (I still had time to actually go back and make my appt). They just took a message, they wouldn't do it. I never had this happen to me before at a doctors office; all doctors I see verify benefits or if they are confused about my benefits, they will take the time to call insurance to get the matter cleared up. It seems all Dr. Roane's office cared about is money, not the patient.

I have been going to Dr. Roane for a few years now and really like her. I have recommended her to many of my friends. I have had to wait on occasion but everyone was always been apologetic even if it is a short wait (and honestly when do you not have to wait in a doctor's office). The last time I went in there was some confusion with my insurance and the receptionist patiently waited on hold and dealt with the insurance's poor customer service for me. Which I was very thankful for!
Every visit has always been pleasant, she has worked with me to find the best B.C. for me. She is always patient to hear any concerns I might be having. Also, her staff is very competent and helpful.
I would recommend Dr. Roane. And their new office in Brier Creek is very nice and convenient.

On my first visit with Dr. Roane, she breezed into the examination room and told me ?I glanced briefly at your chart ? you just need a routine exam, right?? I replied, ?I do need that, but I am also trying to get pregnant.?
She then performed a clumsy and rushed exam, during which she snarled at me to ?Relax!? She rushed through everything and prescribed me fertility meds ? when I tried to asked her whether some current meds I was taking would be a problem if I got pregnant, she replied, ?We?ll deal with that when you get pregnant.?
I foolishly gave her a second chance, but asked my husband to come with me and intervene if the doctor treated me as rudely as she had the first time.
Even though I just wanted a lab test to see if I was pregnant, her staff told me to get undressed for a physical exam. I was left undressed for 1 hour and 15 minutes. When Dr. Roane finally saw me, she announced she was not going to perform a physical exam. I said, ?Then why have I been lying here undressed for over an hour?!?? She replied ? ?Well, _I_ don?t know!?
When my husband then intervened to ask her to treat me more politely, she treated him extremely rudely as well.
End result ? I left the doctor?s office, WITHOUT the test I wanted, sobbing hysterically from the way I was treated, and had repeated panic attacks in the parking lot. My husband had to wait inside to get a refund of our co-pay. Dr. Roane?s staff apologized to him about 20 times for what had happened, and hinted it was extremely common for women to leave Dr. Roane?s office sobbing hysterically.
I will be writing the medical board about the way Dr. Roane treated me, to try to prevent any other women being treated so badly.
I have since found a much better gynecologist, both kind and competent, who treats both me and my husband with respect as well as taking the time to answer all our questions - instead of throwing fertility medicine at me without answering important questions.
