Southside Elementary School serves over 600 students in kindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes programs in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally offers classes in reading, art, music and physical education. Southside Elementary School employs guidance counselors who provide support services and encourages students to participate in drug prevention activities. Its library provides various print and multimedia reading and reference resources, as well as access to the Internet. In addition, the school operates the Building Based Student Support Team, which is a school-based committee that supports teachers and students who are at-risk of failure due to academic and behavioral concerns. Southside Elementary School is located in Gadsden, Ala., and is a part of the Etowah County School System.
