I was a patient at this clinic and at Fairview in general but now I have switched to Allina and it is basically because I feel Fairview is not integrative enough and not providing Functional Medicine. Functional Medicine means that you look at the whole person and not at them in parts, i.e. the bladder or the heart or....you look at how they are functioning and you listen to how they are feeling. You believe there is something impacting the patient if they tell you they are not feeling well, and you look at a variety of factors including nutrition or individual responses to medication. I was feeling very ill and tried to get help and instead got asked if I had Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Went to Alliana and got very holistic help, including trying three different thyroid meds because the first two made me sick because I am so sensitive to fillers and extra things in the med and do not do well with synthetic anything - and they listened. Told my mom to leave too because she has not been feeling well gaining weight and depressed - and her doctor cut her off three times when she wanted to try natural thyroid or have the full panel testing for T3 and adamantly told my the synthetic was the standard. Shouldn't the patient NEED be the standard? For some people the synthetic works very well - but not ALL people. This is what I mean by listening to the patient and their response. Love the way Allina is going more integrative - wave of the future!!
