It has grown from a small, general freight and local delivery service to one of the nation's largest, full-service, moving and storage companies. S&M Moving Systems capabilities are: packing and transportation for household goods, electronics, displays and exhibits, special commodities, office and industrial, and international moves. S&M Moving Systems joined United in 1974. Today, as a stock-holding agent for United Van Lines, S&M Moving Systems is consistently ranked within the top 10 agents for United Van Lines domestically and ranks in the top 3 agents for global services. The company is family-owned and operated, as it has been since its inception in 1918. Currently run by fourth generation Stadler family members, the company's President is Steve Todare, son-in-law of Gerry Stadler. Gerry is the grandson of founder R.J. Stadler. Gerry was raised in the business, as was his father, Giles. S&M Moving systems employs more than 400 people with corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona and branch offices in Fremont, California; Santa Fe Springs, CA; Albuquerque, New Mexico; San Jose, Costa Rica and Malaysia.
