Techniques include deep tissue, Swedish, or even pressure point massage...
- Medical MassageManual Therapy: Medical massage and mobilization techniques geared to stimulate blood flow, lymphatic drainage and promote healing, while relaxing muscles and soft tissues affected by nerve dysfunction.
- Aromatherapy Massage
- Hair StraighteningYou may also be given exercises designed to strengthen the core, including your lower back muscle groups, lower abdominal muscle groups, or pelvic muscles. Core exercises are aimed at straightening your posture and equalizing the weight load on both sides of your body. Additional specialized treatments may also be added as our Freehold physical therapists deem fit, such as ice and heat therapies, laser therapy, massage therapy, or other soft tissue treatments that relieve pain and promote the healing of damaged hip and/or knee tissues.
- Ultrasound TherapyUltrasound is a type of mechanical energy that has been used for many years to treat chronic pain and improve the healing process. There are several specific ways a physical therapist can use ultrasound therapy to treat injuries and reduce pain. Contact REHABILITY in Freehold to learn more about how ultrasound therapy can help you promote healing, reduce pain, and improve your ability to perform daily activities and tasks.
- Electrical Muscle StimulationThe intensity of the electrical muscle stimulation or sensory nerve stimulation is easily modifiable and ultimately will only be as much as you, the patient, can tolerate. Typically, electrical stimulation will feel tingly or prickly (some patients describe it as a comforting “pins and needles” sensation). Sometimes, as in the case when used for muscle strengthening, the intensity level can be high and somewhat uncomfortable, but it should never cause pain.
- Chiropractic AdjustmentsDr. Chickara also provides instrument adjusting via the unique “Impulse” device, developed by Neuromechanical Innovations. Chiropractic adjustments from a chiropractor with the Impulse adjusting instrument are automated, repeated thrusts that feel like a light tapping sensation with minimal force on the area being treated. In most cases, the application is tolerated extraordinary well, while facilitating pain relief with improved mobility and function.
- Spinal AdjustmentsBut spinal adjustments aren’t the only methods with which a chiropractor can ease a pinched nerve in your neck, back or limbs. Ultrasound machines target tissue with penetrating heat, which increases circulation and decreases pressure on the nearby pinched nerve. Ice therapy also relieves pressure on the nerve, by reducing inflammation on surrounding areas.
- Intersegmental TractionWhile many patients seek traditional chiropractic manipulation therapy, there are several other specialized techniques provided by Dr. Chickara, chiropractor based on each patient’s individual needs. Some of these advanced techniques include mechanical traction therapy (flexion-distraction) and spinal decompression therapy, both of which are performed digitally on cutting-edge equipment.
- Stretching
- Manipulation TherapyAt REHABILITY, Robert Chickara, DC specializes in treating back and neck pain conditions with chiropractic manipulation therapy, including advanced mechanical traction and decompression therapies. Dr. Chickara implements diversified adjusting and mobilizing techniques with a strong focus on the structural and spinal correction.
- Spinal DecompressionREHABILITY offers a revolutionary non-surgical treatment option called spinal decompression therapy for those suffering from a herniated disc and/or pinched nerve in the back or neck. This therapy is a painless, minimally-invasive treatment for the back or neck that facilitates healing and restores normal functioning of the spine. With spinal decompression therapy, patients have a safe and comfortable way of treating back and neck pain associated with a number of common conditions.
- Therapeutic ExerciseWhen you say the words “physical therapy” most people automatically assume you have had surgery. Yet physical therapy goes beyond post-surgical care restoring strength, endurance, flexibility and stability to people who have been injured, are in pain, or have experienced an illness. Through therapeutic exercise, it is possible to have your function restored and live a life that is pain free. Contact REHABILITY in Freehold to schedule your consultation and find out how we can relieve your pain.
- Flexion Distraction TherapyFlexion-distraction (traction) has become one of the most widely used conservative approaches to treating low back pain, including symptomatic disc injuries involving both back pain and the often-accompanying leg pain. This technique involves the use of a specialized table that gently distracts or stretches the spine, allowing the doctor to isolate the spinal area of involvement, while slightly flexing the spine in a gentle “pumping” rhythm. While briefly lying on your stomach, these actions move the disc away from the nerve, reducing inflammation of the nerve root and eventually the associated pain and inflammation into the leg. There is no pain involved in the treatment and in fact, most patients report relief of pain almost immediately.
- AcupressureKinesio taping has become much more visible in recent years. You have likely seen athletes, gym-goers, and even pregnant women using the colorful muscle tape in strategic positions as a way of easing pressure on their joints and alleviating pain. Kinesio tape is a union of old-school pain management strategies and state-of-the-art medical technology, utilizing aspects of acupressure and strategic physical therapy by placing elastic therapeutic tape around problematic areas. The tape exudes a pulling force, allowing for free range of motion while still providing a therapeutic pressure to the targeted area.
