Mason's Sapphire Mine is an all-natural, dig your own sapphire mine that has been in operation since 1942 in Franklin NC. We also offer enriched buckets so everyone can find something to love! Masons mine is a safe, fun, and unique experience to add to your family trip! A fun place to be and get dirty searching for gemstones. You have to dig your own dirt in the mining area, and then wash in provided screens. Finally, you sort through the remaining gravel to find the sapphire crystal, which is normally covered with the matrix material. Help is there if you need it for identification. Covered flumes are available for the rainy day, or even the sunny day. Refreshments are available and clean porta-johns, and even a changing room.A pleasant atmosphere and a unique adventure.
