Established in 1988, the Macon County Care Network, also known as CareNet, is a nonprofit organization that offers community-based services for low-income individuals. It works in association with Duke Energy and provides electrical equipment, gas, firewood and kerosene. The organization offers financial assistance for medication, fuel, utilities and rent payment purposes. Additionally, the Macon County Care Network maintains a thrift store that provides household items, books, magazines, clothes, furniture and jewelry. It also operates a pantry and offers food services. The organization provides a newsletter that offers information on monthly meetings and events. The Macon County Care Network provides services for children, youths and senior citizens, as well as individuals with disabilities. It is located in Franklin, N.C.
