We went for dinner to King Tut, swayed by the generally very favorable critiques. We started with hummus, one of the best we?ve ever had. For our main dish, my wife ordered gyros, my son and I, shawarma. The portions were huge. However, the gyros was two slabs of spam-type meat, our shawarma consisted of chunks, not thin slices, of chicken (for my son) and lamb (for myself). That?s not how we remembered gyros and shawarma (check it out on Wikipedia). Not only that, the taste uniformely was bland, as was the sauce served with it. My wife said you can get better gyros at the food courts in malls, and cheaper, too. My recommendation: stay away from the gyros and shawarma, just have a hummus appetizer, and leave.(3-Mar-2007)
For lunch or dinner King Tut's is fantastic. The hummus and salad are great, and I love the gyro meat and pita bread. This is a great Greek food restaurant and a well kept secret of the workers in the hospital district for lunch!
