I was in the mood for a good cocktail last night and so I figured I would take a stroll down 7th St and surrounding bars when I came across the Capital Bar, not to be confused with The Capital Bar & Grill. Upon entering I had to pay a $5 cover, which I had no issue with. However once inside I found that I had been hammed as there were no other patrons at 10pm on a Friday night and no live music. Further more my drink was over priced and bartender completely self absorbed in their task of stocking a bar for 0 patrons and talking to their co-workers. To make the first time experience worse, when I awoke this morning and reviewed last nights charges I discovered that instead of just running my card for the Single Drink and the Cover, which were done as two separate charges, the opened up a tab for them which billed me an extra $20 each. So my one drink ended up costing me $51 instead of the $5 cover & $6 drink. Buyer Beware!

My high school reunion was held recently and our Meet-N-Greet event was at The Capital Bar off University Drive. This was an excellent choice! They made things very easy on our group. We basically made arrangements for our group to have a reserved section of the inside bar and our classmates were responsible for their drinks, valet and cover charges. The Capital was a hit with our classmates! From an event planning perspective, I highly recommend it because there was no cost to reserve the space and the soft-drinks were free which is an awesome way to encourage designated drivers. I recommend taking advantage of the valet parking as the parking availability is very limited and $5 is worth it. I heard many great things about this night from our classmates and we will definitely use them again. WHHS Jungle Class of 1990
