The McLeod Occupational Therapy Hand Center is staffed with specially trained Occupational Therapists. Through the use of objective instruments and assessments, these specialized therapists determine the needs of the patient and create a treatment program for the individual.

MRMC Hand Center Services • Wound management services include: debridement, suture removal, dressing changes, pin care and patient education for home programs • Pain management provides modalities, exercise, stretching and pain reduction techniques • Therapeutic exercise and manual therapy is performed to regain motion, strength and dexterity • Splinting includes: customized static, serial static and dynamic splints, which are made to protect injured structures, to mobilize stiff joints and to enhance upper extremity function • Activities of daily living and adaptive equipment needs are assessed and training is provided to encourage independence in self-care activities • Prosthetic services include: wound care, stump preparation, and prosthetic training Common Diagnoses Treated • Carpal Tunnel • Arthritic Conditions • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome • Hand or Upper Extremity Pain/Weakness • Hand or Upper Extremity Injuries/Wounds • Rotator Cuff Injuries/Repairs • Wrist, Finger, Arm, Shoulder Fractures • Sprains/Strains • Repetitive Use Injuries
