SIRIUS K9 ACADEMY is centrally located in Orange County in Yorba Linda, California. Sirius K9 is owned and operated by Caroline Haldeman. She has been training dogs professionally for over 24 years. Her many years of experience in training dogs for obedience, competitions, personal protection & police work, detection training, area / building searches, and human scent trailing motivated her to open Sirius K9 Academy so that she could offer the public a greater variety and higher level of training. She was determined to offer dog owners more then the often encountered low-quality, unreliable, and unbalanced training found elsewhere... You and your dog will learn a lot at Sirius K9 Academy and you will get your money's worth here! We work with all breeds and ages and offer a large and unique variety of classes (puppy, basic, intermediate, and advanced obedience), personal protection training, detection training, therapy dog training, tracking, remote collar training, (CGC) Canine Good Citizen training, private lessons (at your home or at our location), seminars (R.A.T. Rattlesnake Aversion Training, Decoy training, and Pet First Aid / CPR training to name a few), as well as many certifications (Advanced Protection Dog, TDI Therapy Dog International, CGC, and much more.) We also offer one-of-kind low-stress boarding and in-kennel training for our clients. (The dogs we board stay at our trainer's homes!) We have several private outdoor training locations, as well several enormous buildings for protection and detection training, so you can train your dog safely night or day! We use a variety of training techniques and are always up-to-date on the latest training tools, devices, and methods. Caroline and her highly trained and experienced staff have been proudly educating and helping dog owners attain their goals with their K9 partners for the past 10 years at Sirius K9 Academy. Our obedience, protection, and therapy dog training standards are unmatched in the industry and our training sessions are always fun, challenging, and rewarding. If you want your dog to respond to your commands reliably, even with difficult distractions, then you have come to the right place! We are dedicated to every client's success and constantly strive to exceed your expectations. We believe that motivation is the key when training dogs. With proper motivation, your dog can learn what is and what is not acceptable behavior much more quickly and become the kind of dog you want them to be. We incorporate a combination of positive consequences (using verbal & physical praise, treats, and toy play) and negative consequences (using verbal, leash, and training collar corrections) into our training methods and we will teach you how to apply them correctly when interacting with your dog. It is absolutely necessary for dogs to experience both consequences in order to become a well-adjusted, well-behaved, reliable, and a much more balanced dog. A dog that never experiences negative consequences for bad behavior, ignoring your commands, or even worse, for aggressive behavior, is not just a nuisance and is unpredictable and unreliable, but is also a liability!
