- Estate Grounds Management :Beautiful landscaping is the first thing people see when they walk onto your property. We understand landscapes change in appearance and health over time, which is why a grounds management program is important to have in place. Protecting your investment is what Carl Ray Nursery is all about. Discriminating property managers, home owner associations and individual homeowners understand that it is imperative to protect and nurture the investment they have made in their landscape. We take pride in keeping some of the finest properties in the area looking their best. Let us put together a quality landscape team that will give your property the attention to detail it deserves. While on site, our crew will be keeping an eye out for any potential concerns such as tree and shrub disease or signs of insects, allowing you to sit back and enjoy your beautiful home and landscape. Landscape Design & Build: Landscape Design Every successful project starts with a great design. At Carl Ray Nursery, we believe that proper planning in the design phase will save time, money, and headaches down the road; while ensuring that the end result is the landscape of your dreams. The design process should be fun. Through the process, we will combine your objectives with our creative vision to produce a plan that exceeds your expectations. We will tackle a complex outdoor oasis, a sprawling estate, or a commercial property; each with the same attention to detail and standard of excellence. Landscape Building This is the process where we transform your plans from concept to reality! We put your plan into action. We will oversee your project through the installation phase to make certain that the vision we’ve created is transferred from the design on paper into a landscape that meets your needs. We will take care of all the details, from permits to utility locates. These standards also ensure that your project, whether small or large, receives the same outstanding level of professional installation. Landscape Management: At Carl Ray Nursery, we pride ourselves on being equipped to completely maintain the mature trees and shrubs on your property. Pest & Disease Control Treating your private or commercial landscape for pests does more than just keep you from being annoyed by them, it’s the best way to avoid destruction and help control illness. Many insects can not only destroy your shrubs and trees; but some of the biting types can also cause illness and allergic reactions in people and pets. Liquid Fertilization Applying fertilizer is an essential maintenance practice for achieving and maintaining healthy, mature trees and shrubs. Regular application provides essential nutrients that might not be present in your soil, helping to improve your landscape’s appearance and health. Healthy landscapes have better color, density, growth and tolerance to stress factors. Healthy foliage also: Resist stresses like drought, insect and disease damage Have fewer insects Require fewer control applications over time Reduce run-off and erosion Provide cooling effect in the immediate surroundings Trimming & Pruning Trimming and pruning are essential in maintaining a healthy, beautiful landscape. These techniques help keep disease from spreading in your trees and shrubs, as well as keeping up a pristine appearance by eliminating dry or dead areas. What’s the difference? General Info
Carl Ray Landscape Nursery, Inc. has been doing business in the Kentucky and Southern Indiana area since 1928. Founded by Carl Ray Sr., the company was operated by him until his death in 1983. Originally based in St. Matthews, Carl Ray Nursery has always been known for growing and installing specimen plant material. The company is still family-operated and owned by Mike Ray, the founder’s grandson. In 1988, Carl Ray Nursery moved from its original location to nearby Eastwood. In addition, a second nursery location in Finchville now provides much of the material used in their landscapes. The use of this locally-grown material greatly enhances the success rate of their installed nursery stock. Mike is a 4th generation landscape nurseryman. Mike has a lifetime of focused knowledge that began when he started working in the family-owned business at age 14 as a laborer on landscape and farm crews. Mike also maintains an active membership in the Louisville Nursery Association, the Kentucky Nursery and Landscape Association, the Southern Nursery Association and the American Nursery and Landscape Association. Mike boasts an impressive list of offices and positions that he has held over the years including: serving on the Board of Directors, VP and President of the Louisville Nursery Association; serving on the Board of Directors, and VP of the Kentucky Nurseryman’s Association; is a Kentucky Certified Nurseryman, and was inducted into the Nurseryman’s Hall of Fame in 2009; just to name a few.
