I agree with the first reviewer.

While our server (a middle aged guy) was delightful, the food wasn't great. Place may be "surrounded by farmland" but does that mean people who live on the lakeshore should be satisfied with not-very-good food? I don't believe it. This area is loaded with Chicago/Illinois tourists Spring, Summer, and Fall, you can see the Illinois license plates all through the parking lot especially in the summer. You'd think with the potential and location the place has they'd get with it a bit more. So I guess I'll get on my high horse, too, but I'll ride it somewhere else.

This resturaunt is based off h...

This resturaunt is based off homey items, NOT FOR FINE DINING. For one pasta was added to the menu not to long ago and the ingredients are fresh. I do know for a fact ingredients are'nt just "reheated"/ t is Illeagel to just "reheat fish". As for the deserts the family gets "personal requests" and they sell many cakes and pies. It is one of their biggest sellers. For some one who thinks they know "the restraunt business" you dont even know wich directon they are coming from. A lot of people come down mondays for music nights for LIVE music. I do agree the resteraunt needs a few menu tweeks. As for everything else look at the location and look at the size of it. It is surrounds by farmland, not in the city. I recomend this place to any one. As for wanting to sell the place it has been up for sale for about a year now. Get off your high horse and look at the facts before you "judge". A great family buisness that needs a few tweaks. If youd like to check it out i recomend mondays or the weekends for live entertainment.

Why, oh why, don't owners sell...

Why, oh why, don't owners sell this place to people who can turn it around? So much lost potential here with the location and charming building. Great wait staff, especially those over 35, they are the best part of this place. Food is cheap quality: a lot of frozen stuff (fish, shrimp) that they simply heat. French fries are flat and tasteless. Breakfasts are just "eh." I was told place is owned by family with farm nearby - wishing they'd just do their farming and sell to someone - anyone - who actually knows the restaurant business. No pasta dishes on menu. Desserts aren't very good, and selection is just stuff the women in the family that own the place make - basic cake or pie, and not especially great recipes. Need cheesecake (not Sara Lee), Creme Broulee. Menu needs some personality and food needs to improve to better quality and fresher ingredients.
