We've had many problems with Smelcer Fence from day 1. Experiencing what I experienced I would NEVER hire them again or refer them to anyone I know. I honestly do not know how this company is so reputable with the customer service they provide but I am sure it will soon catch up to them. The 1st problem I experienced was when we scheduled a date to start building my fence I took off work to ensure I was home to answer any questions they had...no one showed up. I called and the woman said she didn't have me on the schedule which is why no one showed up. Then to avoid having to take off work again I asked if I could schedule for the company to come out on my lunch break and she flat out told me no. The workers start at 8am sharp- no later. So I had to customize my schedule to accommodate.



Then they tried to charge me more money than what they originally quoted. I had to rummage through my papers to find the written quote they originally gave me or I would have been over charged. Well they actually did change the measurements up so I was charged a little bit more but they blamed that on me of course because instead of the workers going off the measurements on the estimate they asked me and I told them about where I wanted it to start (where I thought the estimate started) and well I was off..so we had to pay.



So after the fence was completed, the front of the fence looked horrible. A few of the boards were split in half and they still used them to build my fence! Also the gate was crooked and just made the whole front look like crap. So we called and complained. They did come out and replace the split boards but for the gate all the guy did was take a rock and a rope and tie it up to the boards. He said not to use the gate for a few days and it should straighten itself out. Well it did for a few days until it rained..so we called and complained again. And guess what... they did the same thing again! What a joke!



Well now almost 2 years later our door is still crooked and warped looking and now the handle is broken so our gate is completely useless until we get it fixed. I called to see if they could come and fix it and they responded that they only provide a 1 year warranty and they would fix it but for a charge. AS IF I would EVER hire them to do anything again!!! I expected better customer service than that! Smelcer should stand behind their product and repair these issues at no cost!

I had Smelcer Contractors come out and give an estimate for my fence. I was not pressured to buy my fence, and when I decided to buy the fence their were very professional and installed it for me quickly. I would refer this company to anyone that asks me!

I called to get an estament and the gentelman was nice and answered all of my questions and stated that he would come back out if I wanted to make any changes.. Just had fence installed 2 days ago and the work was great and I'd do business with them again...thx a millionBroadway NC07/09/2010

no wonder they have bad review's on here. we had a fence done by them and they left big gaps under our fence and my dog is geting out now we had to put wire under it all around and our gate's are saging and also i caught one of his guy's smoking pot and told the owner about it and nothing was done.

Smelcer just finished a vinyl fence for us and we are having serious buyers remorse. Not one of the fence posts is level. I called 5 TIMES to have them come out and fix various things that were just completely unacceptable, like the drive gate wouldn't close, but every time I asked them to fix the posts, they looked at me like I had 3 heads. I finally asked if any of them had a level so I could show them what I was talking about and guess what? Not one of the crew members they sent out to fix my fence had a level. I would not recommend these guys to anyone.

they will tell you anything you want to hear just to get your money...and they hire dope heads caught one in my yard and the fence is leaning..sorry a88 COMPANY

had a fence done by these guy's ..it looks like my child did it. i wished i did it myself now..and the fence is falling down..and the guy's they have working for them curses alot and they leave big gaps under there fences..dont hire this co or you wished you didnt

I had a 6 ft privacy fence put in several years ago. When I called to get the estimate, my husband and I had some measurements in hand. They gave us an estimate and we scheduled an appointment. When the guys were done with the work, they told us that we had over measured and that our original estimate was incorrect and that the amount was less. Now, that is honesty!!

Do not hire them for anything. They will send send anyone with two arms and legs to put up a fence and will not honor their poor workmanship. All I get is excuses as to why my 5000 dollar fence line is nearly falling over. Took me almost four months of repeated phone calls to have someone come out to view my fence. To my surprise the "employees" just pushed the fence upright and said they didn't install the fence right on some parts and left. WTF!
