The Rice County Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The Rice County Sheriff's Office operates a jail that houses convicted and pretrial prisoners. The office also maintains a civil division that responds to legal processes directed to the sheriff, including writs of execution, evictions, notices, provisional and enforcement processes, and various other court orders and documents.
