Dr. John M. Willis was born in Philadelphia but grew up mostly in Rochester, New York, as a three-sport athlete and Regent Scholar. He graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana, where he played on the soccer and swimming teams, was Secretary of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, and received a B.A. in Chemistry. After graduating from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry with Deans List Honors, Dr. John first treated Maine children at the Jessie Albert Dental Clinic in Bath in 1973, before he went to Syracuse University Hospital for a year as an Intern in Dental Surgery, and then two years at Temple University in Philadelphia for a specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. From 1976-2003, Falmouth Pediatric Dentistry was on the north side of Fundy Road. During this time, Dr. John was on Staff at Maine Medical Center, Westbrook School of Dental Hygiene, Westbrook Community Hospital, Pineland Center and was a consultant to Jessie Albert Dental Clinic. We expanded to our present location to offer our patients more comfort and better service. Dr. John and his staff complete over 200 combined hours of continuing education each year. Our most recent courses have included topics on orthodontics, sedation, CPR, Advanced Pediatric Life Support, technology advances, the latest restorative materials, computer workshops, root canal techniques, and staff development and team concepts. Dr. John is Past-President of the Maine Dental Association, American Society of Dentistry for Children and the Northeast Society of Pediatric Dentists. He has been President of the South Portland National Little League and the South Portland Lions Club. He has also run marathons and has been a Western Maine soccer official.
