- MRIAfter many years of annoying back pain, it had progressed to sometimes debilitating pain and inability to do certain activities I really enjoyed. After Dr. Weinzapfel reviewed my MRI, he said, “I know what’s wrong and know how to fix it.” That was good enough for me – no need to get a second opinion. My pain was gone immediately after surgery and I returned to work in 2 1/2 weeks. It’s been over 7 years now, and I am able to enjoy hiking, biking, golfing, and any other activity I care to do. We have backpacked rim to rim through the Grand Canyon, climbed the steps to the top of St. Peter’s Basilica, and best of all, I can hold and play with all 7 grandchildren. I have, and will continue, to high recommend Dr. Weinzapfel. My surgery was truly life-changing and will be forever grateful.

- ArthroscopyI have been a patient of Dr. Saltzman for many years. I was first referred to him for arthritis, but since then he has performed arthroscopy on both of my knees and replaced one of my hips. Before surgery walking was difficult and painful, but only ten days after the procedure I was walking without assistance. I have now completely recovered and am able to walk again without pain.

- Joint ReplacementThere are a number of options for treating joint pain, but once these have ceased to be effective, you may want to consider joint replacement surgery. Forget what you know about joint replacements based on your grandmother’s experiences – advancements in surgical procedures and improvements in the devices used to repair and replace damaged joints can help you to regain your full range of motion while providing sweet relief from your chronic joint pain.

- Hip ReplacementAfter years of limping on a bad knee, working on concrete floors, and wear and tear my right hip needed to be replaced in December 2014. This recovery was even more remarkable to me than my quick recovery from knee replacement I had my hip replaced on December 22 and was recovering at home just a little over 24 hours! I was able to walk into my home unassisted and was back to riding an exercise bike in 18 days. I would have been back out on my outdoor bike, but it was just to cold! I was back to work in 8 weeks. In July 2015, a little less than 7 months after the hip replacement, I rode in the RAIN (Ride Across Indiana) bike ride. I rode 162 miles in 11 hours and 49 minutes. This was the 3rd time I had done this ride, but the first time with both an artificial hip and knee.

- Frozen ShoulderI first developed symptoms in my right arm and shoulder approximately one and a half years ago. I had pain radiating down my arm that was waking me up at night. I made an appointment with Dr. Perry and he suspected that it was a frozen shoulder. He recommended therapy to see if this would help. Symptoms did improve but after some time I was back to hurting again. We tried a couple injections and a home exercise program. After several months I began having pain again. After consulting with Dr. Perry’s nurse practitioner Joy May, she recommended we get an x-ray and then an MRI. The MRI confirmed that surgery was required. On March 28, 2016 I had a right shoulder scope, Acromioplasty, Mumford with manipulation. I am now 12 weeks post op surgery and getting better and stronger each day with the help of my therapists here at Tri-State. If not for the excellent care and compassion I have received from Dr. Perry, his nurse practitioner Joy May, nurse Katie and the whole Tri-State team I do not think I would be doing as well as I am. I keep working hard every day to reach my goals. A special thank you to Dr. Perry. You are the Best!!
