My craftsman-built bookcase was found to be infested with powderpost beetles in 2005. Swanson suggested fumigation as effective; cost was $445, guaranteed for 30 days. In 20ll more infestation, Swanson rep said frass was old and no further damage could occur. In 2012 a significant amount of frass was discovered. Swanson rep refused to inspect, return phone calls, or after agreeing to mediation failed to appear for meeting. I brought damaged wood to court to prove that beetles were still active. However, the judge ruled that Swanson met the contract requirement for only 30 days. Had I been aware that fumigation might not work I would have explored other options and have had the added expense of carpentry and court costs. I feel that Swanson should have taken steps to ensure that pests would be exterminated. I have lost over $750 in fumigation, carpentry and court costs.
