Bi-Mart Corporation stores are membership discount stores, and deal mainly in hard goods in the following departments: photo, housewares, sporting goods, automotive, hardware, health and beauty, toys, clothing and shoes, beer, food, wine, and a full service pharmacy. Bi-Mart takes a deep discount approach to merchandising brand name goods, basing the profits on volume sales rather than unit markup. The first Bi-Mart store opened in Yakima, Wash., with the second opening in Eugene, Ore. soon after. Headquartered in Eugene, and operating successfully for more than 50 years, Bi-Mart membership is more than 1 million and has expanded to 64 stores throughout Washington, Oregon, and Montana.
