Great beer! The atmosphere of ...

Great beer! The atmosphere of this place is really neat. If you haven't seen the full gardens and outdoor patio area, definitely take a walk around. People seem to spend all day here! There's plenty of patio and grassy area to sit around and drink. Which, if you're trying to get on a tour, you may have to spend all day. It costs $3 now for a tour ticket (used to be free, but everyone in your party had to be there to get their own ticket), and now you can buy tickets for your guests. The catch is that the tours sell out almost immediately at the beginning of the day. So if you're hoping to get an early tour....get there EARLY. We arrived this past weekend at noon, and the earliest available tour was at 4pm. I was definitely not going to wait around for that.

There's not much to do around Escondido except tour breweries. This is supposed to be one of the best ones (haven't been to others). I've been here twice now. The first time my friend got a bison or buffalo burger and got pretty bad food poisoning. They are currently remodeling their kitchen or something so the full menu wasn't available. The prices are pretty out there. $8 for a pretzel? Even Disneyland isn't that much.

My group and I had a mac and beer cheese, really good, but over-priced. I also had the yakisoba noodles. Tasted fine, but again overpriced. The beer cheese soup was delicious! Really rich and flavorful, but just get the cup. It gets really heavy.

I would probably only have some appetizers and beer the next time. Beers are $3-10 depending on what you get. Stone beers are $4/6 for a pint.

Parking is available, but there's also valet for $3.

We went to eat lunch at the restaurant on Saturday and it was so packed. We were a big group (20 people or so) but the service was extremely slow. Some of the menus they gave us had some printing issues (some of our menus only had appetizers listed) and it took forever to bring the right menu. It took forever to take our drink orders. Between the drink orders and food orders took more than 30 minutes.

The selection of food was a bit strange. They had American, Japanese, Mexican, Indian, French, Middle Eastern etc.... One of the entrees was Japanese Yakisoba, $22. Ridiculous. Yakisoba is a fast food that normally cost less than $5 in Japan.

Since this is at brewery the beer list was much bigger than food menu :) I tried one of the light beers that they recommended but I didn't like it (I'm not much of beer drinker anyway.)

We ordered hummus for appetizer and that was delicious! I had BLT with Beer Cheese and that was okay.
