- Reading With Phonics Tutoring Services is a privately owned tutoring company offering reading, grammar, writing, and elementary math services to all ages. Our reading program offers "back-to-the-basics" style of tutoring. This means we offer reading services not available in public education. Students that have an IEP, or are ESL learners succeed well in our reading programs. Online tutoring is also available for distance learning.

- We are an in-home tutoring company. We meet clients in their homes, offices, or local libraries. We also offer small group tutoring.

- We offer tutoring for reading that is phonics based. We also offer tutoring for grammar, spelling, paragraph and essay writing, penmanship, and language arts. Elementary math programs are available. In addition to the reading program we offer tutoring for elementary math students.
General Info
Since opening in 2006, Reading With Phonics Tutoring Services has prided itself in establishing friendly, high-quality service to our clients. Every client is treated as an individual with unique needs. Below is a summary of our services available to all ages and abilities. READING PROGRAM: Our reading program teaches students to identify sound and vowel patterns to begin the learning process. We start with 1 syllable words and move steadily to multi-syllable words within a few lessons. The students are able to identify sound patterns through the use of phonics to sound out words. Phonics is used to help with proficiency in spelling and reading. Students are taught all the vowel patterns as a powerful tool for developing good spelling habits, which results in great writing skills. Suffixes and prefixes are taught along with their meanings. Learning the meanings of these affixes teach students about verb tenses, identifying adjectives, and other grammar insights. This is a guided exercise for all of our students to develop confidence. Vocabulary is also included for literacy and to establish good writing styles. These words are designed to apply well to the lessons, and are above grade level so they are new, yet relevant to the topic. Reading comprehension is also a part of every lesson. Reading comprehension and fluency are improved because students identify sound patterns quickly so they are not losing the main idea of what they are reading. This is one of the major features we use to help struggling readers. Our students begin to love reading, which results in visits to the library and bookstore! ELEMENTARY MATH: It is our experience while working with previous clients that it is important to start students at a comfortable math level where they feel empowered and competent. Then consistently and properly increase the level of difficultly. Our elementary math program includes identifying numbers, number sequence, writing number practice, addition, subtraction, multiplication facts, division, math mechanics, fractions, and decimals. GRAMMAR and WRITING PROGRAM: We enjoy working with students to improve their writing skills. The topic of language arts may include many areas of study. We provide service to students in grammar usage and mechanics, parts of speech, punctuation, verb tenses and voice, subject/verb agreement, modifiers, and so on. We also help students in developing different writing styles such as descriptive, cause and effect, persuasive, personal opinion, and creative writing. As a concerned parent, I came to realize my son was not reading and writing at grade level. His grades showed he was struggling. I called Jody, and we started tutoring the next week. My 6th grade son really didn't like to read and that bothered me, because I like to read. My son faltered or muttered when asked to read out loud. My son worked with Jody for about 9 months using the Intervention Program. My son wasn't excited about tutoring at first, but once he started the reading program he felt more confident! Our overall experience with Jody Robinson was GREAT! Our daughter’s grades improved from C’s and D’s to mostly all A’s.
We started with Jody in March 2010 after we noticed our 6th grade daughter constantly struggling with her homework and classes. After almost 1 year of working with Jody, our daughter has held a GPA of 3.667 for 2 straight quarters, and has even increased her GPA to 3.833!
Our daughter’s confidence has also improved and she is currently taking all honors classes in middle school.
Jody’s instruction was always at our daughter’s pace and if she felt our daughter needed additional instruction on an item she took it. Jody always kept the instructions fresh and played scrabble word games to keep her interested. Jody always kept us in the loop with our child’s progress.
I would recommend Jody to anyone who has a child that is struggling in school. We will be using Jody again for our son if he needs it.
My only regret is not using Jody sooner when our daughter was in elementary school.
