I bought a 2016 262D from Caterpillar, that had only 88 hours on January 15, 2019 and I plowed one time with it and then the machine would not start after. The starter wouldn't crank over and I called Caterpillar and the tech said I needed to put silicone around the around the starter to keep moisture out. I ended up doing it myself due to the fact I needed to plow again and they wouldn't be able to give it back to me in time. I ended up losing $900 recently after that. Once all this happened I finished the third plow and when I went to go move the machine would start but wouldn't move. Eventually after I couldn't figure out what the problem was I had to call Caterpillar once again. I had to pay out of my pocket a tow fee to get it to Caterpillar. Before they even got a chance to look at the machine the sales lady named Claudia told me a rodent could have ate the wires. Mind you I have a 2 YEAR WARRANTY for the engine and powertrain. I believe if the machine would start but not move it had something to do with the powertrain, which it does. Now after looking at the machine Caterpillar finally got back to me and said a nest was inside the machine below the cab. I had the machine in a parking lot at Value city on Golf Road in Schaumburg for 32 days. There is no possible way a rodent got inside the engine because for one its winter and two no one is able to access the engine compartment. I just don't understand how the sales lady made this prediction with the rodent eating the wires. I never understand why the yellow light was always on. Caterpillar wanted to charge me $107 to clean the machine when the machine never seen dirt. Then wanted to charge me $2,300 to fix the machine. I would not recommend buying a machine from them at all. They have the worst customer service. Once they look at the machine they automatically charge you $300. Do not buy Cat. They do not stand behind their product. Even the finance company wouldn't work with me. The finance company told me they would add on to my payments to fix the machine. I only put 40 hours on this machine they should fix it for free or give me a new one because of all the problems I've been having.
