Eklund Drilling Company is a leading exploration drilling company reputed to be the biggest of its kind in the western United States. Founded in 1960 by Lew Eklund, the company is still family owned and operated. Eklund Drilling employs more than 135 people and has 30 drill rigs in its fleet. These include 15 Atlas Copco rigs used exclusively for exploration drilling, among them the TH75E, which is used for drilling depths to 2,200 feet. While these models have proved to be productive and reliable, Eklund says they do not compare with the performance of the latest model, the RD 10 plus, which has a pullback capacity of 100,000 pounds. Eklund serves most of the western United States with an emphasis on Nevada. It restricts its activities to gold exploration and relevant services such as drilling for dewatering wells and drilling monitoring wells. Eklund Drilling, one of the largest exploration drilling companies in the U.S., specializes in reverse circulation drilling.
