The adjustment is given by hand and consists of placing the patient on a table and applying pressure, using specialized techniques, to the area of the spine that are misaligned or not moving properly through their range of motion. The purpose of the adjustment is to restore joint mobility/alignment, relieve associated muscle and nerve tension and assist healing. Restoring joint mobility is the key because joint immobility is the primary factor, which allows for the development of spinal degeneration.
