I am from Michigan and was traveling to Sharonville, OH on 08/18/18 to pick up my daughter from her summer visit with her dad. I stopped at a Pilot Truck Stop in Beaverdam, OH to use the restroom and clean my windshield. I got back in my Jeep Liberty and it was making such a loud noise that I thought the front end was gonna fall right off. I noticed a Goodyear Garage right behind the Pilot, so I walked over there and was greeted by the RUDEST woman I think I have ever encountered. She informed me in a not so nice tone that they only work on fleet vehicles and directed me across the 4-Lane highway to another garage that she "believed" worked on private passenger vehicles. I walked across this 4-Lane highway and then down it a bit to go around the fence that had the property blocked off. I get inside and explain my predicament and he tells me that they only work on fleet as well. He gives me a number for a local garage that he thinks is open on Saturday. So, I leave and call them as I'm walking. No answer. Back to Pilot Truck Stop I go. I sat in my Jeep for about 15 minutes and then I went inside to ask a cashier if one of their mechanics could please come look at my car. At this point, I'm in tears (and I am not a person who cries easily). She calls one of the mechanics and explains my situation and he says he can come look at it, but it will be about 45 minutes. What choice do I have? I'm stranded. So, I go back to my Jeep to wait on him. While I'm waiting, I Googled mechanics in that area and start calling all the ones that don't say that they are currently closed. Tons of no answers. I am getting desperate and starting to panic. I finally get an answer at King's Auto Repair Service. I am so ecstatic that someone has finally answered. I said, "OH!! Please tell me you are open!!!" He says he isn't, that he's only there to do some paperwork, but asks what I'm calling for. I explain my situation to him and that the mechanic from Pilot is supposed to come. He tells me if the Pilot mechanic doesn't come or can't fix my car, to call him back.

So, I continue to sit there in my Jeep (crying my eyes out still) and next thing I know this man pulls up in a pickup truck; he gets out and asks me how I'm doing. I ask him if he is the mechanic from Pilot, and he tells me he is Kent from King's Auto that I had called earlier. I was elated, to say the least, that someone had finally come to at least look at my Jeep. We got in and drove it thru the parking lot, then he drove it, looked under it and nothing appeared to be "wrong." Then, he engaged the 4-wheel drive and the noise stopped. WHAT?! Then he put it back in 2HI and it started again. He puts it back in 4HI and it stopped, back into 2HI and the noise was still gone!!

He believes that somehow when I parked to go into Pilot, that it engaged my 4-Wheel drive (which clearly doesn't work) and that's what was causing all the noise. I asked him if he was ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that my Jeep was now safe to drive on into Ohio to get my daughter and then back to Detroit and even asked if my wheel was going to fly off. He kinda laughed and said that it would be fine to drive and the wheel definitely was not gonna fly off.

I asked him what I owed him for his time. He only charged me $20, which I was more than happy to give him for his time.

I get back on the road, get my daughter, and head back home and made it without further incident.

Then, this morning, Kent called me to make sure I was okay and that I had made it home safely!!! What a way to go above and beyond for a stranger that he will never see again and he only made $20 from.

KUDOS to Kent at King's Auto for helping out a stranded, blubbering mess of a woman!!
