I have gone to nicks for some time with decent results until...I brought a 2004 Honda civic to them with a broken timing belt. they replaced the timing belt only to find out that all the valves were bent due to the broken timing belt.
They told me that I should have told them that the head was bad and would have to redo the whole thing. If they are Mechanics shouldn t they have known that a 2004 Honda civic head gets bent valves when the timing belt breaks. They gave me a break and only charged me $500 bucks and three weeks of my time wasted.
They tore it all apart again and this time sent the head out to be rebuilt. This time it was $1100.00 but they guaranteed their work for 90 days so long as I had the original receipts. NO RECEIPTS NO GARENTEE.
The car went 7 years and 90,000 miles on the original timing belt.
Nicks auto repairs on my car went 7 months and less than 10,000 miles before the timing belt broke again. Nick offered to redo the timing belt and head all over again for half price but I m all ready out $1600.00 bucks and I won t let them anywhere near a car of mine for any reason.
In all fairness it could have been a defective belt but when I pay a mechanic $1600.00 bucks for a timing belt repair I should expect them to install good quality parts and I should be able to expect a timing belt repair to last more than 7 months. I intended to sue them but found out it would have been too expensive. They got a way Scott free and I feel I got Screwed. It s too bad...they are a nice couple of guys that I really liked but I just can t do any business with them.
